POSTPONED: NEW DATE TO BE DETERMINED
This 4 hour workshop will explore the deep muscles and fascia of the “core” including the transversus abdominis, respiratory diaphragm, pelvic floor muscles, thoraco-lumbar fascia, lumbar multifidus, rotatores, interspinales and intertransversarii.
The research of Panjabi, Hodges, McGill, Richardson and others suggests the intrinsic myofascial system influences intra-abdominal pressure and improves segmental vertebral and sacroiliac joint stability. The deep stabilizing muscles have been shown to activate prior to movement (feed-forward mechanism) and increase the efficiency of force generated by the extrinsic core muscles.
This workshop uses the Anatomy In Clay® Learning System to build the intrinsic core myofascial system and includes a movement lab to help the student better understand its function. References will be provided.
